There’s a new literature review on asexual identity and culturally competent care.

About queenieofaces

QueenieOfAces is a graduate student in the U.S. studying Japanese religion. She is a queer asexual. She also blogs over at Concept Awesome and runs Resources for Ace Survivors. She is never quite sure what to write in these introduction things, but this one time she accidentally got a short story on asexuality published in an erotica magazine.

Unfortunately, the paper is hidden behind a paywall, so here’s a key for those who didn’t yet know it: sci-hub.cc. It’s a website which allows downloading science papers for free. And I strongly support the idea because the system is outrageous: for people who aren’t affiliated with a scientific institution, a single paper can cost as much as a whole book. Even big, prestigious universities are complaining that they have trouble affording journal subscriptions! It should finally be considered if such practices are legal at all, considering that research is mostly publicly funded. The creator of Sci-Hub, Alexandra Elbakyan, believes that such business model is against article 27 of the UN Declaration on Human Rights (“everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits”). It’s time to stop allowing big corporations to set up different rules for themselves and to give ordinary people an equal chance.

  2. Hola 🙂

A friend and I are curating profiles/stories of asexuals (albeit somewhat anonymous). We’ve collected about 8-9 stories, and 2 of them are up. We are curating it on a Medium Publication here: https://medium.com/asexual-self
