Take the AVEN survey

I have a special announcement:

The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN) is performing a large-scale survey.

We are looking for any respondents who are part of the asexual spectrum, as well as people who are not part of the asexual spectrum. This survey includes some sensitive questions about sexual topics. Please distribute this announcement.

The survey is open for some time. Later, statistical results will be published, providing crucial information about the demographics and needs of asexual-spectrum people.

The survey can be accessed here.

For any inquiries, please see our FAQ, or e-mail info@asexuality.org

Für Personen, die des Englischen halbwegs mächtig sind – die Fragen sind nicht besonders kompliziert.

Research is good- please help support the ace-spectrum community by participating in this survey- for both folks who ID as asexual/demi/gray-A etc. and non-asexual folks.

Just in case you’re not aware, the email on here has a typo in it. Thankfully the email bounces if sent to it. This has been corrected on AVEN though.

What would be good is if the question “how often do you experience romantic attraction?” (or sexual attraction, I think there is one) also, afterwards, asked the survyed what they defined as “frequent romantic attraction” versus what they consider “infrequent”. Because as it is, someone could be experiencing romantic or sexual attraction once a year and defining that as infrequent, while someone else defines once a *month* as infrequent.

I do think the survey questions are very good and it’s set up well, I just think that seeing how people define frequent/infrequent would really help, since without actually knowing how people define frequent/infrequent, we don’t get any numbers on how often people are experiencing sexual or romantic attraction (in regards to things like identifying as gray asexual or gray romantic,, or aromantic or asexual).

That’s a possible change, but I could also see it causing problems. It’s already quite ambiguous what we’re measuring the frequency of. Some demisexual people asked how they were supposed to fill it out, if they were constantly attracted to their partners, but hardly ever to anyone else. Even for myself, the frequency depends heavily on what “counts” as sexual attraction.

Thank you for the feedback. We will take these things into consideration for future surveys.
