Every Friday, we will share links to news, blogs, and anything else we find interesting. We can’t catch everything, so you are invited to self-promote in the comments!
The Ace Theist wrote about the condemnation of grey areas.
Fistfelt wrote about lying by omission.
Pink News ran an article on the Asexual Conference at World Pride.
Swankivy’s book got a mention in TIME Magazine. Swankivy responds. Mark Carrigan also reviewed her book.
The Ace Advice Network has been started on tumblr.
The article on asexuality in the Sydney Morning Herald has been getting a lot of criticism. Jo responds.
The Peak ran an article on including asexuality in LGBTQ.
Scarleteen had a pretty good response to someone asking whether they should come out.
aceadmiral wrote about being aversive.
XO Jane ran an article by a woman who fell in love with an asexual man.
ace-muslim listed some things straight Muslims and other allies can do to support asexual Muslims.
Wow, that XOJane article is a trainwreck. I haven’t even finished it and I’m cringing.
I can respect what the author went through and that it must have been difficult for her, but… “what does your therapist say” is one of the first things out of her mouth? The whole way she writes about it is an excellent example of why we need better asexuality education.
Hmm, okay, in the interests of fairness, I’ll say it does get better towards the end.
You can see the SMH article author’s response to Jo, and Jo’s second response, here:

The author’s response to Jo is really not any better. She still doesn’t get it, and asks us to “agree to disagree” about whether we exist.
Dropping it in next week’s linkspam!
After my own correspondence with the SMH author, which ended similarly to Jo’s, I’ve published this as a response: https://aceintranslation.wordpress.com/2014/06/29/a-response-to-matty-silver-no-i-cannot-agree-to-disagree/
