Question of the Week: March 26th, 2013

This is the Question of the Week, a way to stimulate conversation.  It occurs every Tuesday.

Part of the purpose of this blog is to encourage other people to blog.  Well, the first step to blogging is to pick a blog title.  It’s sort of like thinking of band names, it can be fun even if you don’t plan on using the name.

Can you think of any good (or silly) ace blog titles?

We considered many titles for this blog.  I was fond of “The Purple Stripe”… because as we all know, the purple stripe stands for community!

I actually don’t remember most of what I brainstormed before stumbling across that Nietzsche quote. I was rather fond of “Via ace-centrica”, though.

Not necessarily a blog title, but I would love an ace bar or other ace-community space called “The Friendzone”

    • We should totally reclaim ‘The Friendzone’ as an ace/aro thing. That has to happen.

      To answer the original question:
Earlier this year, I was considering moving blogs and starting up something in which I whine about my sexuality and romantic orientation. I was going to call it ‘Q + A’, short for Queer + Ace. And then I was like ‘With what free time?’ and that didn’t happen.

I remember musing about changing my blog’s name to a really good pun on Kinsey’s ‘x’, but then Writing From Factor X came along, and I’ve forgotten it. *sigh*

      • Sciatrix says:

If it makes you feel better, it took me about a week of thinking to come up with WFFX’s title, and in retrospect I wish I’d used a variation on “category X” instead–I used to get quite a bit of confused traffic that was looking for a site about “The X Factor.” Plus “category” is more accurate to Kinsey’s terminology, which I either forgot or didn’t know at the time.

I am terrible at names, but I was rather proud of that one.

      • Siggy says:

I also really like “The Friendzone”. I know it’s supposed to have pejorative connotations, but the literal meaning is so positive. Who wouldn’t want to be in a zone where there are friends?

There are plenty of blogs that reference “ace” as a playing card, so it stands to reason that there could be multiple blogs that reference Kinsey’s X. Writing From Factor X has a nice ring to it, but it doesn’t have to be the only one.
